Description of Project:

The Curaçao Tourist Board received from the Island Counsel after lengthy negotiations the permission to locate a tourist information booth in the center of Willemstad, Punda; albeit under strict architectural stipulations.

So a competition between a pre-selected group of architects was held, resulting that AOB was the chosen prize-winner with our original design: Not to inflict a dissonance on the mighty bastions of the nearby Fort Amsterdam, or on the graceful "Penha" building with its voluted gables, our airy design has been inspired by the nearby St. Annabaai and its naval fundamentals. Recognizable marine elements are - amongst others - the drawn out hatches, which serve by day as sun-blinds, but at night are batted down by means of rigging, which run through wooden pulleys. Seafarer paraphemalia further complement the inviting architectural conviviality towards the tourists. Although size wise this information booth is our smallest project, its unique appearance, and our innovated translation of the programs of requirements, is another striking example of our strong versatility.
